My Yard Community Hub

A new community Hub is opening in Pinner Grove Estate in Pinner to provide local residents with opportunities and resources for improving wellbeing; building community resilience and developing self-reliance.

The Place of Change Hub, which is the result of a partnership between property services contractor, Breyer Group, Harrow Council and MyYard charity, is being officially opened on Thursday 1st June at 2pm until 4pm. The launch event will include games for children, a bouncy castle, refreshments, music and an opportunity for residents to contribute to the activity plans for the Hub going forward.

Breyer has given Harrow Council £7k of social funding to enable MyYard charity to establish the Hub in a portacabin, which will be used as a base for engaging with local families and supplying them with weekly surplus food provisions, among other initiatives. The donation will fund this activity for a 12-month period and follows on from Harrow Council’s 12 months of funding given to MyYard last year.

Nesan Thevanesan, Interim Head of Resident Services comments:

“This important Hub will enable Harrow Council to maximise engagement with residents living at the Pinner Grove Estate. We will work closely with MyYard to help identify and support vulnerable residents, as well as look to understand residents’ priorities relating to the estate, including what activities would benefit them, particularly in the area of wellbeing. We are very grateful to Breyer for providing funding that will enable us to do this.”

Lee Furbank, Operations Manager at Breyer, comments:

“Breyer is currently working with Harrow Council to improve properties in the area. As well as sustainably improving homes, Breyer has always been committed to going further to enrich local residents’ lives wherever possible. So, we were only too pleased to be able to support this brilliant community initiative and look forward to hearing about the positive impact it’s having.”

Rachel Dimond, CEO at MyYard charity, comments:

“In the past 12 months My Yard have invested over 300 hours getting to know the Pinner Grove community and understanding concerns. Sharing weekly food packages (retail value £125) with over 50 households.  With the new Hub, we will be able to expand the outreach activities”.
