To promote the skills and employability of young people, Breyer Group has developed a sustainable Work Experience Programme, offering a valuable insight into the construction industry for 14-18 year olds. The Programme is run across our construction projects where we promote opportunities for young local residents like Harry Rogers, a Barking and Dagenham Resident, who jumped at the chance of two weeks work experience in July 2016.
Harry joined our team at Head Office, spending time across all departments including our Roofing Division, Health and Safety and Finance teams. Harry got the opportunity to learn and understand the function of our Construction Business which ultimately encouraged him to want to know more about the industry and the careers and opportunities that might be available to him.
Harry received a certificate of completion after his two week experience, stating; “I have really enjoyed my time at Breyer and it has helped me get a better understanding of what I want to do in my future career…. Hopefully one day I will work in Construction”.
Just over a year later, Harry got back in touch with Breyer’s Community Development Team and has successfully secured a full-time Trainee Site Manager position on our Islington Framework contract. Under the mentorship of Brett Bussey, Contracts Manager, we are sure that Harry will develop his skills and knowledge to grow with the company and fulfil his ambitions in the industry.
