Breyer Group identifies and defines sustainability as ‘meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’.
As a contributor to the renaissance of Britain’s towns and cities we are committed to improving the quality of life in the communities that we develop. We recognise that we must respect the physical environments and the societies in which we operate. Environmental and social responsibilities are, therefore, central to the success of our business and indeed, we believe that by addressing them we can enhance the value of our organisation.
To reinforce our commitment to sustainability, we have a dedicated Environmental & Sustainability Officer, who is responsible for the implementation, audit and improvement of our Environmental Management System, Waste Management and Environmental Awareness and Site Waste Management Plan training.
A primary role of our environmental officer is to ensure our registered and continuous participation in WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme) which has been established in response to the Government’s Waste Strategy 2000 to promote sustainable waste management. Involvement ensures regular WRAP “net updates” and regular seminars where we receives specific guidance from WRAP on updated regulations; how to ensure best practice is obtained regarding recycling on and off-site and how best to procure recyclable or recycled materials.
As the majority of our waste is kitchens and bathrooms on the refurbishment side, we can proudly report that we are a company that recycles 100% of its waste.
We were shortlisted as a highly commended finalist in LHC’s One Planet Award for Sustainability, 2009. This new award is in recognition of LHC's focus on sustainability and commitment to One Planet Products.
