The annual ‘Celebrating Diversity’ event is a thoroughly enjoyable way of recognising the dedication and hard work of residents from the Ascham Homes borough.
It was identified that Asian women from the area are very secluded and are not mixing very well within the community. The Celebrating Diversity events were designed to highlight the cultural diversity within Waltham Forest and this was achieved through a variety of performances, including Bollywood dancers, flamenco dancers, Turkish folklore and a Joseph production by school children. Catering was also provided for the audience, who were given the opportunity to appreciate dishes from the Caribbean, Asia and the Mediterranean. Furthermore, awards were provided to residents and tenants for their contribution to the communities within Waltham Forest.
The event was a complete sell out, with over 200 guests attending the multicultural festival (which was held at Chingford Assembly Hall, Chingford).
Amongst the 200+ guests were Deputy Major Sheila Smith-Pryor, Councillor Michael Lewis and his wife, Janet Lewis.
This event was funded by the Breyer Group Plc and was organised with Ascham Homes.
The show was a great success and this was further confirmed in a letter written by Councillor Michael Lewis who congratulated Breyer Group as the organisers for “organising an excellent Achievement Awards Event”.
