We are extremely proud of our Community Investment Programme for Islington along with our achievements to date. Each initiative is designed from the offset with the needs of the residents at the forefront. We strive to help communities thrive through a combination of measures which include developing facilities to meet the needs of the area we are developing.
An example of this is Breyer Group recently revitalising Betty Brunker Community centre.
The centre is located on Mora Street, EC1V 8EH and we agreed that it should be renewed so that it can continue its important role within the area.
“Community Centres provide members of the community with a place to come together as a group to enjoy group activities, social events, receive public information and even tackle ASB (by allowing
residents to participate in various activities that bring together large diverse communities)”. Roy Ramrutton, Community Development Manager, Breyer Group Plc.
We at Breyer recognise this and aim to improve community infrastructure through provision of financial resource generated by programmed fundraising events, Breyer’s Community fund and complemented by the Breyer Foundation (Company No. 07473672).
Thanks to the Breyer Community Fund & our Supply Chain (Barry Stewart), we carried out internal redecoration works to the Capital value sum of £23,000.
Whilst the works were taking place, residents were still able to use the centre. This was achieved through a customised planned programme of works & regular resident contact.
Upon inspection of the works Jade Alogba, Islington Council commented “the committee were very pleased with the end results and appreciated our cooperation and commitment to this project”.
