Breyer Roofing has been working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council carrying out roof renewals and external works. As a thank you gesture to the local community, Breyer Roofing contacted a few school Headteachers offering to revamp a garden or playground area, or decorate a classroom or library in line with specific needs of the Schools.

The only School that accepted the offer was Ashtree Primary School, who have benefited from a renovation of their allotment.

The works commenced on Monday 1st August for 5 days and involved:

  • Striping out of all timber flower beds
  • Removal of weeds, plants and soil from shingled  area
  • Trimming overgrown concrete edging to enable original border to be seen
  • Filling all timber flower beds with new graded top soil
  • Levelling of the pebbled soil with new 20mm shingle to match existing
  • Waste disposal from site
  • Stain timber around flower beds with green stain as requested

On 31st August, during a presentation attended by local Councillor Jeanette Thomas, Breyer Roofing handed back the revamped allotment. A voucher was also given to enable the School’s Garden Club to purchase new seeds and plants.

Beth Kirwan, School Headteacher was so pleased that Ashtree Primary School was beneficiary of such an outstanding project. She said, “It looks really fantastic, thank you very much for the kind offer”.

Led by Jon Davies, Divisional Manager at Breyer Roofing, the whole project was kindly sponsored by Gmtec, Travis Perkins, Bury Fixings, SIG Roofing Supplies, who are part of our Supply Chain. A massive thank you to them for their labour, time and materials.
