Breyer Group fought off stiff competition from various employers in the region to be announced the regional winner of Apprenticeship Employer of the Year 2015. Breyer Group will now go through national judging in the hope of becoming a national finalist.
The Awards, now in their twelfth year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.
On accepting the award, Roy Ramrutton, Marketing and Community Investment Manager said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Breyer Group taking into account whom we are rubbing shoulders with. This includes Barclays, BT and BAE systems to name but a few. In 2013 we were London Finalists in the same category and were ‘Highly Commended’. This award shows that we have continued to develop and innovate, increasing the support our apprentices receive and services we provide through Paula and our Employment and Training Team”.
Breyer Group was chosen as the winner in recognition of the outstanding contribution It has made to apprenticeships, the industry and local residents.
Breyer Groups 360˚ Apprenticeship Programme includes:-
It invests in Apprenticeships to develop and nurture industry trained apprentices who quickly complement its workforce. This investment helps increase staff retention, diversity, loyalty, morale and addresses succession planning whilst reducing recruitment costs and time.
Since inception Breyer Group has achieved 86% completion rate equating to 122 completed Apprenticeship Frameworks across different business functions. The Diversity of its apprentices is another measure of our success. 51% out of 35 apprentices are women and those with disabilities, an increase of 19% from 2013/14.
The award was sponsored by BAE Systems.
Sue Husband, Director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said:
“Apprenticeships deliver for businesses, individuals and the economy. They enable people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, in some cases up to degree level, while working and earning. And for businesses, hiring apprentices is a productive and effective way for them to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.
“The National Apprenticeship Awards enable talented apprentices and committed employers to receive the recognition they richly deserve. They not only help celebrate the achievements of apprentices and businesses, allowing them to gain the credit for investing in their own futures, but they drive up quality and encourage others to get involved.
“Breyer Group has been recognised as the London winner of Apprenticeship Employer of the Year 2015 and I would like to congratulate them on their achievement. They deserve to be rewarded for their efforts. There has never been a better time to become an apprentice or employ one.”
